"The UK Spey is a crisper action rod compared to the MF,a versatile rod more than capable of getting you through a season from start to finish it is equally at home with sinking or floating lines, the handle is slightly longer, 2 corks.
The line I prefer to use on it is my 74ft head although it casts well with the shorter head also.
I would say that line with head weights of between 49 & 54gr would be ideal. Power tapers work well, even though I tend not to customise mine as I only use them very ocassionally.
Hope this helps.
Best Regards,
Bill Drury
The LeCie is available in 3 models - medium, fast and UK Spey. The UK Spey has an extra wrap on the blank and a couple more cork rings on the handle. It is described as having a medium/fast action - I had one and found its quite fast with most of the action in the top 2/3 of the rod.
It is pretty powerful and works well with traditional speylines and shooting heads. I actually found it better with heads than my Vision Catapult.
The fast model is no doubt the one people refer to as being less forgiving then the LPXe - not a lot in it though. I had the UK Spey model - quite powerful - lacked a bit of feel, but overall a very good rod - it is the one sometimes referred to as the 'drury rod'.

The 14ft 8in are fabulous rods, I bought one of the 10/11 ones at a well-known West of Ireland tackle dealer last season.
I bought it as a slightly more forgiving rod than my workhorse 15ft Loomis GLX, to help develop my Spey casting, and as a consequence have not touched the Loomis since. Even for full heavy sinking line work I'm happy to use it as number one choice.
I have the Le Cie UK Spey and can't sing it's praises high enough. I use a Carron Jet Stream with it and find the set-up perfect. I prefer it to my Loomis 15ft GLX which I now reserve for Spring and back-end sunk line fishing.
I can't recommend it enough. I've subsequently bought the 10ft 8 weight as well.
